Your guide, Captain Kirk has over 15 years of experience targeting these great gamefish, and is highly regarded as the leading guide service in the area. If your looking for a trip targeting multiple 100+ pound fish but don't have the time for a international fishing trip this operation is right up your alley.
Alligator Gar Trek
Texas, United States
The alligator gar is the second largest freshwater fish in North America. Each year anglers catch many Alligator Gar that weigh over 200 lbs. A typical day’s fishing on the Trinity River will include seeing around 40 to 50 big alligator gar turning on the rivers surface. Fishing gear used for these giants include heavy action 6-7ft Ugly Stik rods matched with Shakespeare freeliner reels. Reels are spooled with 150-pound Power Pro braided line. Fishing strategy consists of fishing large ½ pound pieces of cut-bait taken from local forage species like the carp or sucker. Fishing presentation consists of fishing cut-bait on the bottom under floats in areas of slack or marginal current. Your fishing boat will be a custom built 16-foot flat bottom boat with a 40-horse outboard. Captain Kirk has fished for alligator gar for the last 15 years and has guided anglers from all over the world. His phenomenal 100% catch rate in past years for Alligator Gar has generated a large amount of clients that return annually. So far Captain Kirk has helped everyone of his clients catch at least one fish, with a good day being from 3 to 7 fish with at least 1 fish weighing over 100 lbs. There are many days where every fish landed weighs over 100-pounds. Your guide will target areas where there is little or no boat access to the rivers, thus allowing less fishing pressure and more open water.
