Staggering Premiere
For Peacock Season!

Zaremba’s next trip will target bigger fish as the Rio Negro region season begins in October. There are still several slots on the luxurious Captain Peacock, with a $500 discount offered for the escorted Oct 29-Nov 6/7 departure. Now entering its fourth year, the Captain Peacock has had a full makeover with added sleeping and dining capacity and even a top-deck jacuzzi. Owner Leonardo Leao has also negotiated some exclusive fishing areas for the upcoming season, which runs through March.

The coming year also marks FishQuest’s most ambitious season for new and exploratory Amazon trips:

We have scheduled two trips to Colombia in 2009. Our lodge-based on the Bita River has peacocks, payara, sardinata and catfish all on the angling menu. The Rio Tomo trip is a tent-camp adventure with deep lagoons and solid big-fish potential.

This fall we are developing and refining our Brazil trips for the Amazon’s largest fish, the prehistoric pirarucu. We’ll be fishing from Mexiana Island Lodge, where we helped National Geographic Television film its “Monster Fish of the Amazon” show. We are also working with River Plate Anglers in some exciting new areas with abundant pirarucu, aruana and tambaqui, as well as peacock bass.

In February, we’ll target one of the Amazon’s wildest multi-species river. The Rio Travessao is home to payara, pacu and enormous Jau catfish, along with several other exotic species. The camp is rustic, but the world-class fishing potential promises bountiful rewards for roughing it.

Finally, our new “Fish With the Natives” trip is a throwback in time to the pioneer days of trophy peacock bass fishing, with native villagers guiding adventurous anglers on big-fish tributaries untapped by conventional sportfishing operations.

As the La Nina phenomenon subsides, water levels and other fishing conditions are looking favorable this year. So if you haven’t plugged into a trip yet, give us a call to get your Amazon adventure in motion.
