Has Silver Lining
to get anglers back into their sport.
A few examples:
Mango Creek Lodge on the island of Roatan, Honduras is offering a terrific deal for weeklong fishing packages through January. For each full-price fishing package booked at $2,845, the second (accompanying) fishing package is 50% off. This is a savings of $1,422.50. For non-angling companions, eco-adventure packages have been reduced from $1775 down to $1,350.
In Uruguay, River Plate Anglers is reportedly the odds-on favorite to win a concession bid for the La Zona giant dorado fishery. Whereas the existing Argentine operation is virtually sold out for the next 18 months, River Plate is offering early bookings through FishQuest, along with some serious discounts. Introductory package rates will start at $2690 for trips between December 1 and April 30 and $3475 starting May 1 through year-end 2009. This is a significant savings over the current $4995 price for a similar La Zona package. Dove shooting options are also available. Stay tuned for more exciting news on dorado fishing!
Los Roques, Venezuela's island of tranquility, is feeling the double whammy from and the economic slump and President Hugo Chavez' anti-US posturing. Thus, discounts of $500 are available for the asking on bonefish packages of four nights or more. Los Roques has remained an attractive destination with no inherent risks for American citizens.
We are getting new incentives for both winter and summer destinations on a weekly basis. Many have time limitations or other restrictions so don't delay. Please give us a call and we'll do our best to wheel and deal on your behalf.
Beware of direct Internet offers from lodges that may be in dire financial straits. We know of at least two Canadian lodges that have failed in the past year, due to rising fuel costs and falling customer demand. (Neither were represented by FishQuest.)
