Peacocks on the Fly
Agua Boa Lodge, Brazil
clear-water tributary of the Rio Branco, perfectly suited for fly-fishing for peacock bass.
The river is flanked by pristine rainforest, with hardwood trees reaching heights of 300 feet. Three species of peacocks are found here, along with payara, piranha, pirapatinga, matrincha, pirarucu, aruana, jacunda, traira, surubim and countless other species. The "Ecotourism Reserve" status has insured that river and the forest that surrounds it will be protected for years to come and full of wildlife. Fly-fishing only is allowed on a catch-and-release basis using barbless hooks.
Accommodations are in spacious, air-conditioned bungalows with private bathrooms, wireless internet and mini-bars. The lodge itself boasts a large dining room and lounge, bar and games room. Outside, there is a 20-meter pool.
