Awesome Aussie Adventure
Northern Territory, Australia
The remote lodge sits 250 miles northeast of Darwin, near an Aboriginal community.
We’ll fish primarily for barramundi, Australia's premier sportfish. Having your lure snatched with an arm-jarring strike and cartwheeling jumps from this salt/freshwater predator is one of fishing’s all-time highs. We'll encounter many other saltwater gamefish, such as threadfin and blue salmon, barracuda, giant trevally, mangrove jack and golden snapper. Arnhemland Lodge also offers fascinating eco-cultural experiences where you can submerge yourself in traditional Aboriginal culture.
But there’s way more to Australia than just fishing, mate! We'll also explore some other amazing other attractions. We'll start off, cruising the Sydney Harbor, overlooking one of the world's most famous performing arts venues, the Sydney Opera House.
Then it's off to Ayer's Rock, known to the aboriginal people as Uluru. The world-renowned sandstone formation sits 450 kilometers by road from the nearest town, Alice Springs. Ayer's Rock measures 1,142 feet high and six miles in circumference. It appears to change color throughout the day, with sunset a particularly remarkable sight.
We'll wind up our adventure on The Great Barrier Reef, one of the natural wonders of the world. It contains the world's largest collection of coral reefs, with 4000 varieties of coral and 1,500 species of fish, along with turtles, dolphins, whales and birds.
Trip runs 28 April - 13 May, 2010. Cost - $11,950.
