For Amazon Season
That said we’re looking forward to getting our adrenaline pumping as we begin our annual jungle jaunts for predaceous peacocks. Here’s a preview:
The 5-star Capt. Peacock has been fully refurbished for the season, and has further upgraded several operational aspects to maintain its reign as the best little boat in the Amazon. The Captain is fully booked for most of December through February, but there are scattering of slots still available, and several good open weeks during the fall and in March.
River Plate Anglers, now recognized as Brazil’s best strategic fishing, has already begun its fly-in camp season, with Alan Zaremba heading a July trip to the headwaters of the Marmellos river in the southern Amazon.
Coming off its best year yet, Venezuela’s Pasimoni River is almost fully booked for next season with returning veterans and adventurous newcomers filling most of the prime weeks. A few great spots still remain open for this authentic Amazon angling adventure.
This year’s Amazon exploratory will delve into the Jatopo River system in Roraima State. This virtually un-fished river holds numerous exotic species, including payara, pacu and various “megafish” cats. Trip dates are January 30-February 8. Cost is $3950, plus international airfare to Manaus.
Also worth re-mentioning as a multi-species Mecca is our weeklong trip to Suriname. The pristine Kabalebo River has abundant giant traida (aka aymara, wolfish), as well as surubin and world-record size redtail catfish. If you’re looking for a great fall trip, this is definitely one to consider. Although the fishing lodge handles only 4-6 anglers per week, we still have some slots open during prime September-November season.
